The installation of the present Executive Committee on 16th November 2003 was graced with the presence of Toh Puan Hajjah Rahimah Stephens, Datuk Ariah Tengku Ahmad – Trustee and Founder President of EFA (1978/1979), Mrs Rita Chin – Trustee and Past President of EFA (1981/1982), Mr. John Paujik, Chairman of the Board of Management of the St. Francis Convent schools, Mrs Loh Saw See, Principal of St. Francis Convent Kindergarten School, Mrs Petronella Munting, Principal of St Francis Convent Primary School and Mr. Herman Yee, President of the Ex-Students of La Salle and Sacred Heart.

Organising Chairperson, Ms Christina Lingam gave a warm welcome to all present and acknowledged the presence of the guests of honour. A special thank you was given to the staff of Pacific Sutera for their superb handling of the evening’s function and for decorating the ballroom so beautifully in lilac upon special request to mark the colour EFA’s official website which was to be launched that evening.

Some 170 members of the Association and their friends, witnessed Ms Mary Gomez, Past President (1999/2001) on behalf the Outgoing President, Ms Maureen Lind handing over the chain of authority to Ms Phelomina Engsun at the grand occasion.

The evening’s entertainment was started off with a dance presentation from children of 4 exfranciscans. The bright costume combined with their consummate ease in performing before the big audience made the little 3 – 4 year olds, the darlings of the night. After the formalities of the installation and a speech by the President Phelomina, entertainment continued with the excellent band called “The Heartbeat”. By special request, a group of exfranciscans demonstrated line dancing to the audience. Thereafter, the floor was opened to all who were brave and willing to participate. Irrepressible as some of our members are, they quickly took up space on the dance floor and all got in line to show their steps. President of the Ex-Students of La Salle and Sacred Heart, Mr. Herman Yee who showed great support by taking a table and bringing his executive committee in full force to the dinner was also sporting enough in taking up the challenge.

The special event of the evening apart from the installation was the launch of EFA’s official website. President Phelomina, together with four Past Presidents present at the dinner launched the website without any technical difficulties. Present at the dinner was the webmaster for the Ex-Students of La Salle and Sacred Heart, Mr Julian Wong, present as part of Mr. Yee’s ex-co. Being the web designer also for EFA’s website, we were indeed fortunate to have him as back-up just in case the screen went blank! Due to the excellent work done by Assistant Treasurer, Ms Catherine Engsun together with Mr. Julian Wong, it all went off without a hitch. Kudos to the both of them Efforts to make Julian into a member of EFA was met with the reply “Once a La Sallian, Always a La Sallian”. Members may search for EFA’s website at www.exfranciscans.org .

The evening ended with lucky draws, fellowship and for some members who refused to go home, continued dancing on the dance floor to the renditions of “The Heartbeat”.
