How the project came about …
EFA Graduation Gown fund-raising project
Dear members,
When we attended
the Secondary School’s Graduation Day on 20 th
October 2003 at the Grand Ballroom, Hyatt Hotel, we noticed that there
were not enough gowns for each graduating student. Only 47 gowns to share
among 160! They had to take turns wearing the gowns as each went up the
stage to receive their scrolls.
St Francis Convent
– our premier school; a school that has and
continues to produce top students for the State and Country – it
did not seem right that we had so few gowns to share among so many. The
Principal said that 47 gowns were all they could manage at the time. Like
the difficulties faced at the cramped school premises, all inconveniences
are shouldered by Principal, teachers, students and parents.
Nevertheless, St. Francis has continued to excel and make us proud.
As one of our
activities this year, we have decided to raise funds for the purpose of
making more gowns for the School. Hence this appeal to all members
–
Please sponsor a gown!
Each gown costs
RM120-00. Make your donations payable to “EFA (1998) – Gown Fund-Raising Project
Account”. If you are unable to sponsor one gown,
please donate whatever amount you can towards this project.
Take part in this
activity. We can only make this
happen if we work collectively. When we have accomplished
this, you will be happy to know that at least come Graduation Day, all
our students will be properly gowned.
You can contribute

Update on the project …
EFA Graduation Gown fund-raising project
The project was a
success!
Our target was to
provide the School with 113 gowns so that they would have a set of 160
gowns. A total of RM11,760-00 was raised and we achieved the target with a
surplus of RM1,328.80!
Graduating class
of 2006 went through the ceremony without any the hassle of passing gowns
to the next person. It was a very
dignified affair and a proud moment for EFA.
